from Mulawa Dreaming
- The new version is dedicated to the memory of my dear friend and collaborator, Penny.
- Uses 800x600 - the pictures appear in a 640x480 black bordered window ...
- ... which leaves room for an
information & control bar at the bottom.
- Opening title interruptable.
- Still 9 "books" to choose from but these are offered
explicitly after the title
display.
- Reward movies (eg)
and music can be replayed at any time by clicking the trumpet.
- Puzzles that use the right mouse show a right mouse symbol
at bottom ... similarly
for the keyboard
- Automatic Save.
- Restarting takes you back to exactly where you left off.
(Of course this means that you really are stuck in the cave!)
- Book replaced by
a single display
which also shows the state of play in all the other books.
- Pressing Esc is no longer "sudden death"
- Broken Camera Jigsaw - pieces click together and stay together.
- Mutating Jigsaw - selected piece
outlined. (This will happen in all puzzles where it is appropriate.)
- Turtle reward music (Blue Danube) replaced by Claire de Lune.
- Kaleidoscope has a frame moving along in time to the animation. It also has a slider
to allow control of the animation speed.
- Got tired of being stumped in the Rock Scramble so now we have
the problem squares outlined in red - have a
look.
This is toggled by clicking on my happy face.
I've also set this up for the Mutating Jigsaw and the Kaleidoscope.
I also lightened the Rock Scramble picture.
During final testing I was still unhappy with the difficulty of this puzzle
so I decided to decrease the number of pieces from 48 to 30 -
now this puzzle is enjoyable!
- Bird Calls -
the correct answer is shown when you get it wrong -
also the still-to-be-identified calls are more likely to be heard.
Hearing-impaired players can click me for this arrow to show all the time.
- 9 Stars - keyboard input handled better - progress is
shown as you go
to improve chances of spotting the pattern.
And, boy! Those dingo calls sound as good as ever!
- Musical Jigsaw - interface improved - also the current square is highlighted as it is played.
- Movie effects in the cave are now under the player's control - can be interrupted or replayed at will.
- The very unpopular Postcards puzzle has been replaced with
the Cave Tour.
- Word Square - greatly improved interface -
also now has a dictionary to ensure that all correct answers are accepted.
Even keeps count of the number of different solutions you have found!
- The Venus Puzzle - I was never sure that the screen conveyed exactly what this puzzle was about.
In the revisited version, the pieces glide in from the sides making the overall structure very clear.
Have a look.
Also the button allocation is always randomised giving 362,880 possible arrangements!
- Much improved Pentominoes - pieces click into place and can't be put down if they don't fit.
- Like the Venus Puzzle, I've never been sure that the Stairs Puzzle adequately conveyed what is happening.
Now the faulty light flickers before going out with a flash & a bang. Here's a
preview.
- Clicking on the score shows the Credits.
- Astronomical has been re-worked.
- Gold Cup is much improved too - note the scores at the
side and bottom of the layout - but, best of all, note the ability to re-shuffle at any time!
And another Big Bonus is the ability to reduce the goal from 35 to 25 - at a cost of course!
- 8 of 4 now shows the piece being built
as you go - much easier to appreciate what is happening!
- "Oz Animals" is basically unchanged BUT it certainly doesn't crash like the original did on occasions.
Two improvements: only mismatches are counted and I have implemented the shuffle feature
that I created for "Gold Cup" so you can "re-deal" at any time.
