Until 1999 I'd never played a computer game - unless you
count Scrabble.
Then I discovered
Myst.
This was quickly followed by
Riven,
Obsidian,
Rama and
TimeLapse.
These are all known as first person adventure games.
The basic idea is to place "you" in a strange (and usually beautiful) environment
which you can explore. It's up to you to discover the object of the game!
Back in 1980 I actually created a computer adventure game myself called "Castle". It used character cell graphics. So now I'm again venturing into the world of Adventure Game creation but using the latest technology. Some of you may be interested to follow my journey so I've decided to keep a highlights journal. |
